Music Ministry

If God is prompting you to sing, play or participate in dramatic presentations, or if you are interested in helping on the technical end (sound, lighting, staging, etc.), please join us. God has placed something in you that no one else can bring to Northside’s mix. We will not be complete without your contribution! Please contact one of our music ministry staff to find out more information:

Prayer Ministry

Prayer has always been a big part of who Northside is, because prayer is of vital importance to every Christian. Prayer is the way we connect with God, but we must do more than just connect. We must praise, petition, and intercede in the midst of our prayer.

The Stephen Ministry

Northside’s Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry: The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remains private.

Drama Ministry

Northside has a growing Drama ministry. From Sunday morning vignettes to full-fledged musicals that go on tour. There are plenty of areas in which to participate: as an actor, costumer, set builder, lighting or sound operator and others. If you feel that God is leading you in this direction, contact Mitzi Mathenia.

Men’s Ministry

Are you interested in serving on the Men’s Ministry Organizational Team or if you are interested in any of the Outreach Ministries or Discipleship ministries available for men? If so, sign up sheets are available on the information desk in the Narthex.

The Flock is Northside’s college ministry. We seek to care for, equip, and disciple college age students in the Jackson area through weekly Bible studies, monthly gatherings, and other opportunities. If you are a college age person, a student at any college in the area, or away in another place for school, but call Jackson home, we are for you. Come join The Flock, a place to find community, connect with others, and call home during these exciting years.

Bible Study Sundays, 10 am, Room 303A

We meet each Sunday morning to study Scripture, pray with one another, and share life together.

Fellowship Groups Wednesdays, 6:45 pm, Room 303A

This is a time where we come together, reflect, and refuel in the middle of the busy week.

Monthly Gatherings

Once per month, we gather in a host home to enjoy a home-cooked meal, find community, and navigate life and faith.

Prayer Partners

We team students with prayer partners to pray for them during this very busy, and sometimes challenging, time in their lives.

Throughout the year, we offer special events to inspire and refresh our college age students.

From drama to puppet shows to service projects – children at Northside get to explore the various ways that we can serve others through our own individual talents. We also have activities where families can share quality family time in a Christian atmosphere – from roller skating to evenings at the ballpark and weekend retreats.

Jonathan’s Hope

Jonathan’s Hope is Northside’s special needs ministry, created to serve individuals with special needs and their families. Our name is inspired by 2 Samuel 9, in which King David protected Jonathan’s son, who was “crippled in both feet.” Our mission is to provide opportunities for fellowship and worship to individuals with special needs and their families. Jonathan’s Hope is made up of three ministry areas: Jonathan’s Kids, Teen Club, and Buddies.

Room in the Inn

Room in the Inn is an outreach ministry through which local congregations partner with Area Relief Ministries to open their church facilities to welcome homeless men. Guests are provided with transportation, meals, lodging, clothes, supplies and most importantly Christian fellowship with the host volunteers. RITI provides an opportunity for volunteers to form relationships with our guests and for both the guest and host to receive a blessing — an encounter with God in the midst of hardship and suffering. To learn more about this ministry or for ways to serve in RITI, contact Karen Fisher at 217-4689 (c), or email at

Small Groups

Northside begins a 6-10 week small group experience.  There are numerous small groups meeting during the day and in the evening, almost every day of the week.  These groups study the same materials – either a study written by our Senior Pastor or a challenging Christian book.   Being a part of one of these small groups is a great way to learn what it means to be a follower of Christ as we study scripture together and support each other in a small group setting.
At the beginning of each small group study, individuals can choose to remain in the same small group they
have been in or join a different group.   To sign up for a small group, contact the church office at 668-0617.
